Everyone loves fresh lilies in the house, and now you can grow these fragrant beauties and pick them fresh from the garden. Without doubt one of the most striking and beautiful summer flowers, Lily 'African Lady' is no exception.
Oriental lilies, sometimes known as a Stargazers, produce large, upward facing blooms in a pastel blend of white, pink and blush shades, as well as the ever-popular and instantly recognisable two-tone 'Stargazer', with its reddish centre.
'African Lady' will fill your patio pots and containers with incredibly beautiful and fragrant blooms in a lovely shade of bright red. Each large petal is edged in white creating the perfect contrast to the glossy green foliage.
Flowering during the summer months, Lily 'African Lady' will grow to approximately 1m tall, making them a perfect option for mixed borders and cut flower gardens where you can enjoy their beautiful pink flowers indoors too. Position your bulbs in either full sun or dappled shade and leave them to die back in winter, where these hardy lilies will come back each summer and continue to flourish for many more years.

Care Guide
- Lily bulbs can be planted from autumn right through to the summer and are happy planted both straight into the ground or into containers.
- We supply lots of different varieties so be sure to check the bag they come in for any specific planting instructions.
- In general lilies are ever so easy to grow and with a sunny spot, frequent watering keeping soil moist (not wet) and a little high potassium fertilizer, you’ll get some fantastic displays.
- Plant in sun or light shade, where they won’t be disturbed.
- Dig a hole for each group at least 8in/20cm deep or 3 x the size of the bulb. Spread a 2in/5cm layer of grit all over the bottom to help drainage. Place your bulb onto the gravel and back-fill with soil.
- Lilies prefer well-drained soil, so on heavy, clay soils which can be too wet, you can grow your lilies in pots, which can then be dropped into borders where you want flowers.
- After the lily blooms, you can also remove just the flower. DO NOT remove leaves until they have died down and turned brown.
